About Shiffa
Shiffa Zakria is a broadcast journalist and presenter with over eight years of on-air experience, having worked across live television, current affairs programming, and public interest storytelling in Pakistan’s highly competitive media landscape. Being one of the very few prominent female journalists in Pakistan, her journey into journalism has been shaped as much by the environments she worked in as by the communities she come from. Over the years, she has reported on stories ranging from underserved rural populations facing complex health challenges to national-level policy debates, particularly in healthcare and political governance. Her journalism is grounded in empathy, accuracy, and a strong sense of public responsibility.
She earned an MA in Multimedia Journalism from Manchester Metropolitan University and later completed an LLB degree from the University of London, driven by a desire to better understand the legal and institutional frameworks that shape the stories we tell. She is currently undertaking doctoral research at the University of Leicester, exploring the evolving role of media in an age of AI. This academic grounding complements her editorial work, particularly when engaging with issues at the intersection of law, policy, and public discourse.
Shiffa's career has also taken her beyond the studio. She hosted national broadcasts, including a COVID-19 telethon with the then Prime Minister Imran Khan, moderated high-level discussions, interviewed high profile guests and engaged with diverse audiences both on-air and through a growing digital presence. She has consistently used digital platforms to highlight underreported issues, promote civic awareness, and contribute to conversations that matter to wider society.
