Nico Muñoz(46) is a journalist based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Trained initially in photography, Nicolás further specialized in cinematography at ORT schools and validated his expertise in documentary filmmaking at INA (France). He complemented his formation with advanced workshops at UBA (Argentina) and Maine Media College (USA). He built his professional foundation in hard news, working for 13 years as a freelance correspondent for Associated Press Television. During this period, he covered major events such as the 2001 crisis in Buenos Aires, presidential elections and political deaths across Latin America, natural disasters including the Chile earthquake and Copahue volcano eruption, the Chilean miner rescue, as well as high-profile sports events like Copa América, Confederations Cups, World Cups, two Antarctic expeditions, and coverage in the Falkland Islands. In 2014, Nicolás transitioned towards documentary filmmaking, embracing emerging media formats to adapt his journalistic expertise to modern storytelling. Since then, he has produced content for international broadcasters including BBC, Al Jazeera, Fusion, VRT, ARTE, France 2, Univision, Olympic Channel, NBC, New York Post, ESPN E:60, and Disney. A multi-award winner, Nicolás has been recognized with honors such as Best Film at the Banff Film Festival in Canada and recent accolades at the Sony World Photography Awards. Currently, he directs documentaries with a strong personal approach, empowering voices through his work. Recognized as an Alpha Partner by Sony Latin America for his recent award-winning projects, Nicolás excels in delivering compelling visual narratives on sensitive topics, often within limited budgets and tight schedules.
