Natalie Skowlund is an award-winning bilingual audio and digital journalist focused on human rights, justice and health issues across the Americas, from Colorado to Colombia. A current Journalism & Women Symposium Health Fellow, her journalistic background includes nearly five years of experience in multimedia reporting, digital editing, bilingual translation, and social media and newsletter editing. She has held previous roles as a digital producer and editor at NPR-affiliate KUNC, and as an education reporter at the Grants Pass Daily Courier in rural Oregon. She holds a Master of Mass Communication from the Arizona State University Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, where she specialized in health disparities reporting and completed an international reporting project on migrant mental health in southern Mexico. Natalie is a Fulbright scholar who has worked and studied in Colombia, Taiwan, Bolivia, Spain and Mexico. She speaks Spanish and Mandarin. Recent bylines with NPR, KFF Health News, Colorado Public Radio, Index on Censorship and more. Her work has been recognized by the Indigenous Journalists Association, Association of Health Care Journalists, Society of Professional Journalists and others.
