The Servicio Murciano de Salud (SMS) has extended the validity of electronic prescriptions for chronic treatments by 60 days for prescriptions expiring between January 15 and March 15, 2024. This measure aims to reduce the need for patients to visit health centers amid a wave of respiratory infections and to alleviate the administrative burden on primary care physicians. The extension will benefit 350,725 treatments, automatically prolonging their validity. The electronic prescription system facilitates the direct transmission of prescription information to pharmacies, although traditional prescriptions will be used in cases of technical difficulties. Chronic treatments will be blocked if there is a 90-day interruption in dispensations, requiring patient consultation for reauthorization.
