Ghana is at a critical point in its development, requiring a shift in urban, rural, and regional planning. The proposal for a Ministry of Housing, Infrastructure & Planning aims to consolidate existing ministries to streamline efforts and attract private investment. This unified approach seeks to address the disjointed development pattern, particularly in cities like Accra, and foster sustainable growth. Historical inconsistencies in infrastructure planning highlight the need for a dedicated ministry to ensure cohesive development. The proposed ministry would play a crucial role in aligning real estate and infrastructure with community needs, leveraging private funds to address Ghana's infrastructure and housing deficit.

The Oronsaye Report, aimed at streamlining Nigeria's government operations to reduce costs and improve efficiency, has faced significant implementation challenges since its release in 2012. Key recommendations include merging, scrapping, or privatizing certain government agencies. However, resistance from agencies, lack of political will, financial constraints, absence of a clear roadmap, and inadequate legal frameworks have hindered progress. Critics argue that the report may not address current governance issues and that a more nuanced implementation is required. The Senator George Akume Committee is tasked with executing the report's recommendations while enhancing public service effectiveness.
