Vicky Abraham is a South African nine-time award-winning investigative journalist and editor. In 2024, Vicky received the prestigious 26th Nat Nakasa Award for Courageous Journalism from the South African National Editors' Forum (Sanef) and Nieman Society. She was also awarded the 2024 Henry Nxumalo Foundation reporting grant. Vicky's expertise spans various areas, including newsroom leadership principles, strategic thinking, global fact-checking, social media, coaching in writing, using feedback, resolving conflict, improving newsroom collaboration, investigative reporting, human rights, social justice, entertainment, religious, political, court, lifestyle, and general reporting. As a seasoned journalist and media coach, Vicky has trained and mentored numerous media entrepreneurs, editors, TV producers, junior and seasoned journalists. She has represented publications at national and international media conferences, with her freelance work featured in reputable media organizations across South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, and the USA. Some notable publications include Mail & Guardian, City Press, Sowetan, Sunday Times, The Nation Media Group Limited (Kenya), Nation Newspaper (Nigeria), Religion Unplugged (New York), Assist News Services (California), and Mississippi Journal. Vicky was selected as a fellow for Poynter Institute for Media Studies in Tampa, USA, and The Media Project (TMP) in New York in 2018. She is also the founder of VA Media Coaching & English Academy, a non-profit organization (NPO) which publishes, the Diary Series of Deaf People, a digital publication that investigates the plight of the deaf community and people with different disabilities.
