Toyota Motor Corporation Japan, through its exclusive distributor Asco Motors, has identified 47 Landcruiser 300 models in Fiji that require Transmission ECU reprogramming due to a design issue in the brake clutch disc. This issue could cause the vehicle to inadvertently creep forward, increasing the risk of a crash. The affected models were manufactured between December 11, 2020, and January 15, 2024. Asco Motors is contacting owners to book the special service campaign, which will be conducted free of charge and involves reprogramming the Transmission ECU Software.

DPP: Nine charged with 44 counts of sexual offences
In December, nine individuals were charged with a total of 44 sexual offences in Fiji, including 37 counts of rape, four counts of indecent assault, and three counts of sexual assault. Two offenders were juveniles. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions released these statistics, noting that there were 10 victims, half of whom were under 18, with eight female and two male victims. In one case, a 32-year-old was charged with 18 counts of rape against his 13-year-old stepdaughter, and there were five incidents where the victims and accused were related.
FIU's first director to retire this year
Razim Buksh, the first director of Fiji Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), will retire at the end of December 2023 after a 36-year career with the Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF). Buksh, who has held various roles including fraud investigator and senior bank examiner, has been with FIU since its inception in 2006. The Governor of RBF and the National Anti-Money Laundering Council will oversee the appointment of a new director. In the interim, FIU Manager Policy Caroline Pickering and FIU Manager Intelligence Esther Sue will act as directors starting January 2024.
LTA aware of taxi drivers denying services
