Veteran politician Mark Mwithaga dies aged 79
Veteran politician Mark Mwithaga passed away at the age of 79 due to heart complications at the Nakuru Heart Centre. He was notable for being the first person in Kenya to be elected as an MP while in prison and was part of a probe team appointed by the late President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta to investigate the murder of politician Josiah Mwangi Kariuki in the 1970s. Mwithaga's death comes shortly after the burial of his only surviving brother. He is survived by several children, including Nakuru Senatorial aspirant Madaraka-Paul Mwithaga.
