Ghana celebrates return of stolen artifacts
Ghana is celebrating the return of stolen Asante royal regalia and other artifacts from a U.S. museum, marking a significant moment in reclaiming its cultural heritage. The items, which had been looted 150 years ago, were welcomed back with rituals and ceremonies at the Manhyia Palace. This event is seen as both a healing process and an opportunity for economic growth through tourism. Experts believe this repatriation will spark a global debate on cultural heritage restitution and inspire other institutions to evaluate the origins of their collections. Ghana, particularly the Ashanti Kingdom, is eager to restore its past and prestige.
