The article discusses a new trend in the spa industry that focuses on the social aspect of spa-going, reminiscent of ancient Roman baths which served as important social gathering centers. The trend, referred to as the 'friend trend,' emphasizes the communal experience of visiting spas rather than just the treatments offered, such as muds, scrubs, and wraps. This shift suggests a return to the historical roots of spas as places for social interaction and community.
