Singapore matchmaker ‘preaches the gospel’ in helping Asian men find Vietnamese brides
Vietnam's economic opening has led to an increase in cross-cultural marriages, with many Asian men seeking Vietnamese brides. Lin, a Taiwanese businessman and matchmaker, has facilitated over 1,000 matches, promoting his services as a form of 'preaching the gospel.' Despite Vietnam's ban on commercial matchmaking, Lin continues his operations, emphasizing the mutual choice in his business. Vietnamese women are drawn to Singapore for its material comfort and strict domestic abuse laws. However, not all matches are successful, with a significant divorce rate due to language barriers and incompatibility. Lin remains unapologetic, stating that clients are responsible for their choices.
