Khairoon Abbas is a communications specialist and writer based in the Greater Toronto Area in Canada. Khairoon spent the last seven years working as a consultant with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), where she supported various communications and education projects that focus on environmental awareness, education for sustainable lifestyles and youth. Prior to joining UNEP, Khairoon worked as a journalist and writer in Africa, where she travelled from Cairo to Cape Town by car gathering stories about African lifestyles. Khairoon has lived, studied and worked in Germany, Ethiopia, Canada, France and the United States of America. She holds a Master's degree in journalism and a Bachelor's degree in mass communications from Carleton University in Ottawa, as well as a graduate certificate in scriptwriting.
