On February 14, 2024, the Ivorian government spokesperson, Amadou Coulibaly, responded to the immediate withdrawal of Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). During a council of ministers' briefing, Coulibaly stated that Côte d'Ivoire, as an individual entity, would not comment on the decision of these three member countries of the Alliance of Sahel States. He emphasized that Côte d'Ivoire's position remains aligned with regional and continental organizations on international matters and will adhere to ECOWAS decisions. The withdrawal of the three countries, led by military governments following coups, was announced on January 28.
