Mutapa Junior named Power coach
Osward Mutapa Junior has been appointed as the head coach of Zambian Super League side Power Dynamos Football Club on a two and a half year contract. He takes over from Mwenya Chipepo, who recently resigned. During the unveiling at the club's secretariat in Kitwe, Vice President Ferdinand Menzu outlined the club's expectations for Mutapa to retain the league title, win local tournaments, and qualify for continental football. Mutapa expressed confidence in the quality of his players to deliver results.
Government to Complete Stalled Projects in Luapula
Luapula Province Minister NJAVWA SIMUTOWE has affirmed the government's commitment to finishing all stalled projects in the province. During a visit to the Mwansabombwe district, he expressed disappointment over the abandonment and vandalism of the civic centre and district administration blocks, which are over 80 percent complete. Security officers have been deployed by the local authority to prevent further damage, as confirmed by Acting Council Secretary MATTHEWS MULENGA, who also emphasized the need to complete the buildings to provide a better working environment for the staff.
Woman Gets 7 year Jail time for Abortion
A 24-year-old woman, Violet Zulu, from Lusaka's Ngombe compound, has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for aborting a 7-month-old pregnancy. She admitted to the act, using local herbs known as Muleza, after the man responsible denied the pregnancy. Magistrate Mutinta Mwenya stated that the severity of the offense warranted a punishment to deter future offenders.
Mkushi hires 15 Contractors to make desks
The Zambian government has engaged 15 contractors to manufacture over 6,000 desks for Mkushi District schools, funded by the Constituency Development Fund. Mkushi Town Council Chairperson Melson Chilemu anticipates positive economic impacts, while Mkushi North MP Christopher Chibuye urges the CDF committee to expedite fund disbursement for development.
