Court blocks coronation of Lango Paramount Chief
The High Court in Lira has declared the election of Eng Moses Michael Odongo Okune as the Paramount Chief of the Lango illegal, halting his installation. FDC Katonga 36 Out on Bail
The International Crimes Division of the High Court has granted bail to 36 members of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Katonga faction, who were arrested in Kisumu, Kenya, and charged with terrorism. Each member was granted bail at Shs2 million cash. The case has drawn significant attention, with Dr. Kizza Besigye condemning the arrests and alleging mistreatment. Miss Rwanda Pleads To Be Spared Jail Term
Miss Rwanda, Divine Muheto, faces potential jail time for drink-driving and causing an accident in Kigali. Her defense team argues for leniency, citing her remorse and status, while the prosecution seeks a 20-month sentence. The court will decide on November 6. UPDF Soldier Suspected in Agago Shooting Arrested

Fisheries Unit Accused of Corruption in Buliisa

Inmate stabs colleague with knife inside Lira government prison
An inmate at Lira government Prison, Denis Obaa, suffered serious injuries after being stabbed by fellow convict Ronny Johnson Engole. The incident occurred on a Tuesday morning, with Engole, a prison prefect, using a knife to stab Obaa, a cleaner at the prison clinic, twice. Engole had served two years of a 13-year sentence, while Obaa was four months away from completing his sentence. Engole was previously arrested in 2014 for a crime involving the death of Denis Anyuru. The Uganda Prison Service intervened, and Engole was charged with attempted murder. This is not the first instance of inmate violence in the region, with a 2019 case where an inmate killed a prison wardress.
