I'm a 35-year-old award-winning, senior broadcast journalist, documentary producer, and scholar with 15 years of experience in some of South Africa’s top newsrooms, including News24, eTV & eNCA, Eyewitness News, Heart FM and others. In 2023, I was honoured to receive a UK Chevening Scholarship, which saw me complete with distinction an MA in Contemporary History and International Politics at the University of York (UK) in 2024. I’ve worn many hats in my career—reporter, anchor, producer, and researcher—and have corresponded for international broadcasters like CBC, BBC, and AFP. Currently, I produce and present The Lead on News24. I also freelance as a presenter for Cape Talk and as a weekend news anchor and sub-editor for Eyewitness News. I recently co-founded Born-Rauby Productions, securing a documentary deal with MultiChoice, and am passionate about nurturing the next generation of journalists. I hold a BTech in Journalism (cum laude) from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (RSA), where I've also guest-lectured since 2018. My recent University of York dissertation on Britain’s covert ties with apartheid South Africa in 1966 revealed fascinating archival findings and will be published soon. I plan to expand this research into a PhD and contribute further to global academic journals. From a Bellville bartender to an award-winning journalist and international scholar, I’m driven by a love for storytelling, mentorship, and lifelong learning.
