Fashion an armor to save lives
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a significant shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers. In response, the fashion community in the Philippines, including textile workers, designers, and volunteers, has stepped up to produce and donate PPE suits and face masks. Despite challenges in meeting medical standards and material shortages, their efforts have been crucial in supporting healthcare facilities across the country. The Manila Protective Gear Sewing Club and other initiatives have been instrumental in providing reusable and washable PPE, which has been well-received by healthcare workers. The collaboration between fashion designers and medical experts has ensured that the PPE produced is as close to medical-grade as possible, providing much-needed protection for frontline workers.
