Chaturon says NSC should be nowhere near economic policies; emergency decrees must be lifted
Chaturon Chaisang, a senior member of the Pheu Thai Party, criticized the Thai government's decision to use the National Security Council (NSC) to address economic issues such as energy prices and inflation. He argued that the NSC lacks the necessary economic expertise and that its involvement could undermine investor confidence. Chaturon also called for the lifting of the emergency decree related to Covid-19, claiming it is being misused to suppress dissent and violates human rights. The NSC has been tasked with collaborating with economic agencies to develop strategies to combat the economic challenges, a move supported by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha but seen as a mistake by Chaturon.
