SOS Fire Danger - 54 Fires Just Yesterday
The first half of August is considered the hottest and usually driest period of the year in Greece, significantly increasing the risk of forest fires. Numerous fires have been reported across the country, with 54 forest fires occurring in the last 24 hours, all of which were promptly brought under control by the Fire Service. The General Secretariat for Civil Protection issues daily fire risk prediction maps, available online, and provides guidelines for fire prevention. The protection of the country's natural wealth is a shared responsibility, and increased vigilance in daily activities can help preserve Greece's green heritage. High fire danger (Index 4) is forecasted for the regions of Attica, Boeotia, Euboea, Corinthia, Argolida, and Skyros.
