ACC guns for Mueller’s estate
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Namibia is urging the Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT) to pursue the estate of its former executive, Eckhardt Mueller, to recover over N$1 million in misappropriated funds. Mueller, who was killed in 2019, was implicated in financial irregularities involving donor funds intended for student support and campus infrastructure. The ACC has presented evidence of misappropriations totaling over N$3 million, including significant donations from BTrading GmbH and De Beers. The ACC recommends a civil claim against Mueller's estate and his son's legal firm, which handled NIMT's legal matters without competitive tendering. The ACC also advises transferring specific properties to NIMT to safeguard its facilities and support future operations. The investigation into Mueller's misconduct was halted by his death, but the ACC remains focused on restoring NIMT's financial stability.
