Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara announced the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in the country, except for the Grand Abidjan area, due to no cases being recorded since April 21, 2020. The curfew will be lifted from May 8, 2020, but will be reinstated if new cases arise. Gathering restrictions have been increased to 200 people, and educational institutions will reopen on May 8 with specific modalities to be communicated. Economic and daily life impacts have led to the lifting of restrictions in interior cities from May 8, with a health alert system maintained until the end of 2020. In Abidjan, the curfew remains until May 15 with adjusted hours, and other restrictions continue. The reopening of restaurants and schools is contingent on the pandemic's progression, with Abidjan remaining isolated due to all 809 COVID-19 cases being located there. The country has recorded 20 deaths from the virus.
