Uneasy calm as bandits relocate to Abuja
Bandits and terrorists are relocating to Abuja from the North West and North East regions, leading to an increase in kidnapping and other criminal activities. The security situation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and neighboring states such as Kaduna, Niger, and Nasarawa is deteriorating. Suspected Bandits Invade Abuja

FCTA: Okada Operators, Serious Security Threats In Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has not fully banned commercial motorcycles, known as 'Okada', but has identified them as a significant security threat in Abuja. The FCTA crushed 639 impounded motorcycles to deter operators from defying partial restrictions. Dr. Abdulateef Bello of the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) stated that the enforcement exercises will continue, as motorcycles not only cause traffic congestion but also facilitate criminal activities such as theft, one-chance robberies, and drug peddling.
