A new fractional-order Zener (AEF-Zener) model for viscoelastic (VE) dampers is proposed, incorporating the effects of ambient temperature and fractional-order equivalence. The model's parameters are determined using a chaotic fractional-order particle swarm optimization (CFOPSO) algorithm. The accuracy of the AEF-Zener model is validated through comparisons with experimental results, demonstrating its effectiveness in characterizing the energy dissipation capabilities of VE dampers under varying temperatures. The study highlights the model's potential for improving vibration reduction techniques in civil structures.

A Matrix Transform Technique for Distributed-Order Time-Fractional Advection–Dispersion Problems

The article presents a novel numerical scheme using the matrix transfer technique to solve the time-fractional advection–dispersion equation (ADE) with distributed-order Riesz-space fractional derivatives. The method reformulates the distributed-order Riesz-space FDs using a second-order linear combination and employs a central difference approximation alongside the matrix transform technique. The distributed-order time-fractional ADE is transformed into a time-fractional ordinary differential equation in the Caputo sense, which is then discretized using the Simpson method. Theoretical stability, convergence, and error analysis are provided, and simulations substantiate the theoretical findings.

Microclimate Multivariate Analysis of Two Industrial Areas

The study analyzes the urban microclimate of industrial districts in Sintra, Portugal, and Uberlândia, Brazil, using the ENVI-met software for computational simulations. It examines variables such as air temperature, humidity, wind speed, and albedo, and their impact on the urban microclimate. The results indicate that despite lower albedo and vegetation in Uberlândia's industrial area, air temperatures may be lower than in Sintra's unshaded surroundings. The study suggests that urban ventilation planning can contribute to sustainable urban development and proposes increasing the albedo of roofs in Uberlândia to potentially decrease air temperatures.
