Born and raised in Juba – South Sudan, Andrew Wani Samuel Modi (commonly known as Wani Lokulang) is a self-motivated storyteller and filmmaker. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Film and New Media from New York University Abu Dhabi. As a Film Director, Wani has written, directed, and edited several short films of his own. He also worked as an assistant director, editor, cinematographer, sound mixer, gaffer, and production assistant for multiple film projects, TV and Radio programs for institutions such as EBC, Reuters, VOA, and Al Jazeera.

South Sudan has long been hit by climate change-exacerbated disasters like recurring droughts and floods. Now, extreme heat is forcing the world’s youngest nation to close its schools. The authorities have ordered schools across the country shuttered because of a wave of excessive heat that is expected to last at least two weeks. Temperatures are forecast to reach 113 degrees Fahrenheit, far above the 90-degree highs typically experienced in the dry season from December to March.
