The room is unfinished. The walls carry the marks of a place still taking shape. Yet in the middle of it all, a child sits with a book, absorbed in the words in front of them. I was drawn to the simplicity of this moment the silence, the light, and the concentration. There was nothing dramatic happening, but perhaps that is what made it worth photographing. We often look for stories in extraordinary moments. Sometimes, they are sitting quietly in ordinary ones. I photograph these moments because they remind me that a story does not always need to announce itself. Sometimes, you simply have to notice.
History isn't just written ; it is sung. In samburu tradition, voices carry the weight of generations. As a documentary photographer, my goal was to make sure the strength of that melody vibrates through the frame."
At the Ndoto Community Hub, I documented moments of young women learning skills that can become more than just knowledge they can become a means of earning a living, making independent choices, and building confidence. This moment, behind the sewing machine, may look ordinary. But for the woman learning the craft, it represents possibility. These are the moments I look for when documenting communities not just what is happening, but what it could mean for someone's future.
