Angels Are Made of Light -- feature documentary film - follows students and teachers at a school in an old Kabul neighborhood slowly rebuilding from past conflicts. Interweaving the modern history of Afghanistan with present-day portraits, the film offers an intimate and nuanced vision of a society living in the shadow of war. WHAT THE CRITICS SAID: ”What is life like on the ground for ordinary people in another culture, another world? That’s been the bread and butter of observational documentaries for forever, but almost never is it done with the kind of beauty and grace filmmaker James Longley brings to his Afghanistan-set Angels Are Made of Light.” — Kenneth Turan, The Los Angeles Times "A gorgeous rumination on three brothers, in school and in turmoil." — Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune "Stirring and gorgeous." — Nick Schager, Variety
