About Bill
Bill Hinchberger is a journalist and educator. He studied at Berkeley and has taught at the Sorbonne and elsewhere. He runs training programs for professional journalists in Africa and contributes regularly to Global Finance magazine. In 2022 he served as a storytelling coach for the United Nations. He has worked as an international correspondent for The Financial Times, Business Week, Devex, ARTnews, Variety, Advertising Age, and other media. His work has also appeared in publications such as Architectural Record, National Wildlife, Science and The Lancet. Assignments have taken him to over 70 countries. Before going nomad, the native Californian lived in France for 15 years and Brazil for over two decades, and wrote almost all of National Geographic’s travel guidebook to the latter country. 

He is based in: Paris, France; Nova Soure, Bahia, Brazil; Denver, Colorado; and Cherryville, North Carolina. Other likely outposts in 2025 and early 2026: Turkey and Zambia.
