Ashrita Achar

I am an audio journalist based in Bengaluru, India.

Over the last 4 years, I've worked across genres of history, development, climate and gender in narrative and interview format shows. I’ve done it all - conceptualisation, research, storyboarding, interviewing (and stringing), recording, scriptwriting, presenting, sound design and mixing.

For the last year of freelancing, I have been exploring sound in other ways. I've done audio stringing (on-site field reporting) for news and radio channels that require it, write and present, do translations/dubs for local languages, build immersive audio installations with fellow artists, and also produce audio tours for museums. 

On my own, I make sound art where I tinker around with sounds, speech and rhythm as I explore personal themes of memory and identity through mini sonic vignettes (some of which have been recognised internationally at festivals).
